Maybe we should put our heads together and make a list of Markets &
Restaurants where we can get relatively clean meats & seafood.
I only eat wild salmon any more. I get it grilled at CHOW in SF.
Just up the street there's BURGERMEISTER, which features NIMAN RANCH organic beef and they make a tasty cheese steak.

Re: a list of places for organic/wild foods?
Mon, April 4, 2005 - 11:09 AMgreat idea, spectral.
Metro Cafe in the Lower Haight uses Niman Ranch beef and has yummy burgers. Also, I've heard that BurgerJoint does as well.
Whole Foods and Trader Joe's have organic meat. As you know, Whole Foods is pretty expensive, but they're the only place I can find bouillon cubes that don't have MSG. Any other organic meat places out there? -

Berkeley Bowl in the east bay has some expensive organic/free range meats too. (I prefer to spend the extra myself.)
Also check your local farmer's markets for more ethically raised meats & eggs.

Re: a list of places for organic/wild foods?
Thu, January 12, 2006 - 1:09 PMUm... seeing as how salmon are practically an endangered species, I don't really see how eating them is a good idea, wild or farmed.
Salmon-bearing streams in BC that used to see thousands of returning spawners each year are now seeing under a hundred fish. That tells me that I shouldn't be eating them. Tuna, trout, anything but salmon. Sorry.
